Isuzu D-Max Chassis & Fitment Considerations

• Single vs. Dual Cab Differences: Some tray designs that fit single cabs may not suit dual cabs due to wheelbase and chassis rail width differences. For example, the 2012–2019 TF series single cab differs notably from the dual cab TF variants in wheelbase length and chassis rail spacing.
• Tail Shaft Differences: Many D-Max models, including early TF series (2012–2016), come with a one-piece tail shaft, which may require converting to a two-piece tail shaft for longer tray extensions or specific tray setups.
• Suspension Load Rating: Certain variants, such as the LS and LS-M trims, have a lower rear suspension rating compared to the LS-U or X-Terrain, which can affect how much load the tray can safely carry.
• Rust and Corrosion: Early TF series models (2012–2016), particularly those used in coastal regions like northern NSW and Queensland, are prone to corrosion on chassis rails and mounting points. This can compromise tray installation integrity and requires thorough inspection and possible rust treatment before fitting a tray. Later RG series models (2019 onwards) show improved rust resistance due to updated coatings but still benefit from routine checks in harsh environments.

Also note, the Isuzu D-Max requires a sonar sensor kit for tray installation. This kit ensures proper integration with the vehicle’s factory parking sensors and prevents sensor faults. This kit is an additional item and is not included in the tray price. Installation can be carried out by our expert team.
